Low TRL Research
We advance hydrogen technologies from the earliest stages of development
For Europe to remain at the forefront of hydrogen innovation, research and innovation gaps must be addressed at an early stage. Hydrogen Europe Research therefore places strong emphasis on fundamental research as a key driver for sustaining Europe’s leadership in hydrogen technologies.
The Low TRL Research Working Group brings together researchers and experts from a wide range of disciplines working on early-stage hydrogen technologies. The group focuses on technologies at the initial stages of development, providing a platform to explore and advance innovative concepts related to hydrogen production, storage, distribution, end-use applications, and cross-cutting enabling technologies.
Members of the working group investigate emerging ideas and address key scientific and technological challenges that must be overcome before large-scale deployment becomes possible. By facilitating collaboration and knowledge exchange across institutions and research fields, the group aims to accelerate the development of promising concepts and support their progression to higher Technology Readiness Levels.
In addition, the working group contributes to identifying emerging research priorities and strengthening the dialogue between the scientific community, policymakers, and innovation stakeholders.
