Advancing Hydrogen Technologies: HER updated Research Position Paper

Over the past year, our Low TRL Research Working Group has developed a position paper to highlight essential research activities that require support.

The paper focuses on early-stage (low TRL) research that merits strategic funding from EU programs, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, and other key initiatives to ensure the long-term success of the European hydrogen ecosystem.

This paper sets out a strategic vision for advancing research and innovation in the hydrogen sector, structured around five key pillars:

1. Hydrogen Production

2. Hydrogen Storage, Transport, and Distribution

3. Hydrogen End-Uses

4. Transversal Activities

5. Research and Technology Infrastructures

Each pillar details critical areas of research essential for driving progress toward a clean energy transition and the decarbonization of society. This position paper serves as an important roadmap, guiding efforts and aligning priorities for future advancements in hydrogen research and technology.
