Mission Innovation – Clean Hydrogen Mission
Hydrogen Europe Research collaborates with Mission Innovation, a global initiative that brings together 22 countries and the European Commission (on behalf of the European Union) to accelerate clean energy innovation.
In August 2025, Hydrogen Europe Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Clean Hydrogen Mission, establishing a framework for closer cooperation in advancing hydrogen research and innovation. The Clean Hydrogen Mission aims to catalyse international collaboration to accelerate the development of a global hydrogen value chain. By demonstrating commercially viable hydrogen technologies by 2030, the mission seeks to enable hydrogen to complement electrification and support deep decarbonisation, particularly in hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy industry and long-distance transport.

Through this MoU, Hydrogen Europe Research and the Clean Hydrogen Mission committed to strengthening collaboration in many key areas:
advancing open science practices in hydrogen research,
promoting international R&I cooperation,
supporting the growth and scaling-up of Hydrogen Valleys worldwide,
coordinating policies to create an enabling environment for hydrogen, and
addressing skills and training needs for the hydrogen workforce.
