Hydrogen Europe Research brings together leading research organisations advancing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. By becoming a member, you join a strong network shaping innovation and policy at the European level. Together, we contribute to a competitive and sustainable hydrogen ecosystem.

Two membership options

We offer two types of membership to accommodate different levels of involvement. Each option provides access to the network and its activities, with different levels of participation in strategic, technical and governance-related processes.

  • Collaborate and exchange ideas with hydrogen researchers across Europe
  • Increase your organisation’s visibility within the European hydrogen community
  • Receive first-hand access to key information and calls for proposals, including those from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership
  • Voting rights at the General Assembly

  • To join as a Full Member, your organisation must be based in Europe and meet one of the following criteria:

    • A non-profit organisation which is not, directly or indirectly, managed, owned and/or controlled by any industry stakeholders or within which no industry stakeholders may benefit from or exercise a blocking voting majority or a veto right or any minority protection mechanism; or

    • A public research organisation funded by a national or local government at a rate of at least thirty-three percent (33%) of its expenses for the purpose of science, education or research for the public benefit; or

    • A university or an academic institution funded at a rate of at least thirty-three (33%) of its expenses for the purpose of science, education or research for the public benefit; or

    • A federation, an umbrella organisation or any similar organisation, not, directly or indirectly, managed, owned and/or controlled by any industry stakeholders or within which no industry stakeholders may benefit from or exercise a blocking voting majority or a veto right or any minority protection mechanism, and having all of its own members conducting research on fuel cells and hydrogen.

  • To join as an Associate Member, organisations must meet the same eligibility criteria as Full Members. The only difference is that Associate Members may be located outside Europe.
