Clean Hydrogen Partnership
The Clean Hydrogen Partnership (as per its legal name Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking) is a unique public-private partnership supporting research and innovation (R&I) activities in hydrogen technologies in Europe.
The three members of the Joint Undertaking are the European Union, represented by the European Commission, the hydrogen industries represented by Hydrogen Europe, and the research community represented by Hydrogen Europe Research.
Hydrogen Europe
Hydrogen Europe is the European association representing the interest of the hydrogen industry and its stakeholders and promoting hydrogen as an enabler of a zero-emission society. With more than 600+ members, including 40+ EU regions and 30+ national associations, they encompass the entire value chain of the European hydrogen and fuel cell ecosystem. Their vision is to propel global carbon neutrality by accelerating European hydrogen industry.
While Hydrogen Europe and Hydrogen Europe Research are two separate associations, with HER representing the research community, we cooperate closely on major topics and through the Clean Hydrogen Partnership to align research and industry efforts in driving Europe’s transition to a climate-neutral economy.
Clean Hydrogen Mission
The Clean Hydrogen Mission is a coalition of 23 Mission Innovation countries and the European Union, working together to accelerate the creation of a global clean hydrogen economy. By supporting the development and demonstration of commercially viable hydrogen technologies by 2030, the Mission aims to help hydrogen complement electrification and decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy industry and transport.
We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Clean Hydrogen Mission in August 2025.
EURAMET
EURAMET coordinate the cooperation of National Metrology Institutes (NMI) and Designated Institutes (DIs) in Europe in fields such as research in metrology, traceability of measurements to the SI units, international recognition of national measurement standards and related Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC). Through knowledge transfer and cooperation among their members, EURAMET facilitates the development of the national metrology infrastructures.
In March 2023, Hydrogen Europe Research and EURAMET signed a Memorandum of Understanding to harness the synergies between the hydrogen and metrology communities.
Women in Green Hydrogen
Women in Green Hydrogen is a global network dedicated to increasing the visibility and influence of women in the green hydrogen sector. The network fosters connection and knowledge exchange through inclusive events, discussions, and panels on key topics such as hydrogen certification, financing, and entrepreneurship. Its Mentoring Program empowers young professionals entering the field, while an international expert database highlights women’s expertise to ensure more diverse representation in industry events and leadership discussions.
Through this partnership, we promote gender equality by creating more visibility for women in hydrogen research, strengthening networks and encouraging new voices to take the stage.
